Discover with us an unexplored land, rugged and remote, swept by wind, the most southern corner of the world, the beauty of Tierra del Fuego. This unique destination will provide you with a chance to experience the local wildlife, including guanaco, andean condor, culpeo fox, beavers and an extraordinary numbers of birds as well as the kingdom of the King Penguin. Through endless stepps, sub Antarctic forest of lenga, peatlands, lakes and incredible ranges of Mountain within Cordillera Darwin you will be able to travel to the End of the World. You will see the spectacular breathtaking wonder of the nature Karukinka which means “Our Land” in the lost language of Selk’nam people who inhabited these ancient land. We promote ECO Tourism on our expedition to protect and keep safe the wildlife of Tierra del Fuego.
Pick up from Punta Arenas Hotel and depart from ferry terminal to Porvenir – Tierra del Fuego’s capital. Once we arrive to Land of Fire we will travel towards the south of the Island. Throughout the time of the expedition will be accompanied by one of the unique native species of Tierra del Fuego – Guanaco. After 110km we will reach Estancia Onaisin, here we will visit the British cemetery. After short time we will travel to the King Penguin Natural Reserve, here we will spend about an hour observing and admiring the beauty of these Antarctic birds the second largest penguin species. The tour will continue on to Russfin, where the famous “Draga Aurifera” is located- Golden dredge – reminiscent of the days of Gold Fever in the early 20th century. Along the way we will be able to observe and marvel a wide variety of indigenoues birds like Bandurias and Caiquén and if we are lucky we could observe the delicate elegance of the Chilean Flamingos. After another 80km we reach Lodge located on the shore of beautiful Lago Blanco. Dinner and overnight in Cabañas.
After breakfast we start our trekking in Karukinka Natural Park. We will move by car to the entrence of the Park from where we will start our trekking. The trail is of a easy-medium difficulty level of challenge covering an overall distance of 12 km (round trip) and the walk will take around 6h 30min.The walk follows a gentle sloping path that crosses steppes, forests of lengas and ñirres and other Andean’s flora and fauna. The trail will lead us up to Lookout La Lenga and to Lookout Laguna del Cura 466 m above sea level with a beautiful view and finishes at the lake. It is a great opportunity to experience a wildlife and enjoy the silence of this incredible place. Dinner and overnight in Cabañas.
Following breakfast, we begin the third day of expedition. Throughout all expedition we will move by car most of the time, enjoying a panoramic view. During our trip everyone will be amazed by wildlife, virgin forest, majestic mountains, crystal blue lakes and astonish landscapes of the End of the World. Karukinka Natural Park is a one of the Wild sites on Earth which remains untouched by human presence. It is the shelter for the Patagonian Guanaco, Andean Condor and endangered Fox Culpeo. Native flora in the park is unique, sub Antarctic forest full of Lengas, Coigües de Magellanes and Ñirres, also deserves a special attention Mosses and Lichens. We will also see huge area destroyed by Beavers, it is nearly 300 square miles of forest and peat bogs. Through forest and mountains, we reach Caleta Maria. Breathtaking bay between mountain ranges, where glaciers shinning on the top of peaks. Here we will do a short trekking about one hour alongside of the coast admiring this wild corner of Earth and with a pinch of lucky maybe we will see an elephant seal. After a trekking we will take a break for tea or coffee in a friendly familiar House. After a break we continue our expedition towards Yendegaia. We will reach a spectacular Lookout on the majestic mountains and Yendegaia National Park, which still remains inaccessible and unexplored. The panoramic view will leave in memory of everyone beautiful, unforgettable image of the southern End of the World. Dinner and overnight in Cabañas.
After breakfast departure. We will say goodbye to the wonders that are Karukinka Natural Park. From Lodge we will travel towards Porvenir or Punta Arenas. Arrival to Punta Arenas and drop off at hotels.
